Clarence Edward Bennett, Jr.

     Clarence Edward Bennett, Jr., age 89, of Shepherd, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 22, 2017.  Clarence was born in Flint, Michigan, the son of Clarence and Caroline Smith Bennett, Sr.  On October 7, 1950, he and Mary Ann Baker were married at Allen Park, Michigan.

     Clarence worked as a journeyman for General Motors until his retirement in 1982.  He was also a sewing machine repairman and enjoyed doing upholstery, woodworking, and gardening.  Clarence grew up in a farming family so he loved to hunt and fish.

     Clarence was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.  He served in the US Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the United Auto Workers.

     Funeral services for Clarence will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the Zion Lutheran Church on River Road with Pastor Jonathon Bakker and Pastor Benjamin Ulledalen officiating.  The family will greet friends on Monday, July 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the church.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church and the VFW Honor Guard.  Envelopes are available at the church and funeral home.

     Clarence is survived by his wife, Mary; four daughters, Lynne Lee of Allen Park, Pat Bennett of Shepherd, Robin and Michael Boettcher of Monroe, and Faith Kinsley of Monroe; 14 grandchildren; and thirty plus great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Christopher; three brothers; and nine sisters.  Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the church or through www.rowleyfuneralhome.com.
